Introduction

The Department of Applied Bio-Industry Science aims to nurture experts to lead the future animal and biomaterials industry, analyze issues of animal food processing, hygiene, and distribution for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and improve human health and the quality of life. It provides education and practice in the cutting-edge areas including animal basic microorganisms, hazardous microorganisms, and analysis of hazardous microorganisms, dairy food microbes and experiments, livestock food hygiene, livestock food science, functional food science, dairy technology and practice, meat science, meat processing, meat processing practice, analysis of meat and processed meat, bio-business, bio-business management, farm design and diagnosis, bio business distribution, HACCP design and application, animal welfare, and international biological enterprise development.

The chief characteristic of the Applied Bio-Industry Science program is that it provides students with a curriculum to cultivate experts in the fields of processing, quality, hygiene, and safety management, and distribution of livestock foods required after the livestock breeding stage corresponding to the primary industry. In particular, to improve the employment rate of students majoring in Applied Bio-Industry Science, an employment bridge program and a class for licenses related to the major program are operated. To cultivate an international mindset, the major program provides an opportunity for overseas field training through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) project. Through this, it conducts future industry-leading research on theories and applications in the field of biology based on animal food, hygiene, and distribution, and cultivates life science researchers and testers who creatively carry out related technical work.
